Dr. Bruckner is a wonderful and sweet woman. However, if you're going to her for ADHD testing, please be wary. If my story here helps even one person, this will all have been worth it.

Dr. Bruckner is looking for very obvious and blatant cases of ADHD. If you think yours may be more benign, please do not waste your time. Go somewhere else.

Dr. Bruckner will put you through 6 hours of testing which includes an IQ test and various other personality and intelligence tests. Ultimately, most of it ends up being disregarded.

She ends up utilizing her immediate observations in addition to 3 factors. She will make, or not make, a diagnosis based off of the T.O.V.A test, your parents reporting of your childhood, and your own self-analysis.

If your parents do not support and identify ADHD factors from your childhood, you're out of luck. If you "pass" the T.O.V.A test, meaning it does not identify you as ADHD, you will not be diagnosed. The T.O.V.A test is heavily utilized by Dr. Bruckner. Feel free to research it and its high margin of error.

Dr. Bruckner did not diagnose me with adult ADHD. This was disappointing. I sought out the second opinion of a psychiatrist, and he diagnosed me with unspecified ADHD. He prescribed me Vyvanse, which I have now been on for 2 months.

For anyone reading this, I would you like you to know that my life is, and has been, drastically changing for the better since my psychiatrist gave me the diagnosis and agreed to help me.

My girlfriend has been incredibly supportive, and has encouraged me greatly to continue to take my medicine. She repeatedly says how much of an overall better and happier person I am now that I am getting the proper help. Our relationship had always been rocky, but once I started readily taking my medicine the fighting ceased as I was able to tackle my own issues and, in her words, "be the person she always knew I could be."

She also pointed out the other day that I don't really fidget anymore. I've always been fidgety, and it was a surprise to hear her say that.

Additionally, my mom has pointed out how relaxed I have become. She has always seen me as more high strung and tense. Now, she says she can tell I'm much more calm mentally and physically.

Dr. Bruckner diagnosed me with Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder and said I should seek out therapy and anti-depressant medication, which I had already tried prior to seeing her.

Did you know that 65% of children with ADHD have 1 or more comorbid disorder? My psychiatrist believed my anxiety and depression were a result of my untreated ADHD. He believed that by treating the ADHD, he would also treat the other issues.

He was right. I'm neither depressed or anxious anymore, and life is generally getting better day by day. I'm incredibly thankful for him and how he has helped in changing my life.
